Name: Madeline Stewart Position: Freshman Representative Date: 9.30.20 Position Development: So far we have worked on class t-shirt sales, Secret Spotlights, and have finished planning for Fall Fest. Right now we are working on Fall Fest by planning class door decorations and planning the freshman class truck decorations. We are also doing a book study in leadership class. Professional Development: We have made our own website , do journals, have a class book study, and do job research. This has helped me prepare for life after high school by improving my time management and helps me think about what I want my career to be. I wasn't very sure on where to start for researching jobs or finding out what to do until we had to pick three jobs to research. That forced me to focus on the jobs I really wanted. Concerns/Change: There is nothing that I would change at this point in time. As for concerns, I heard that a couple of years ago there was a mental health week. That might be a good thing to have this year to bring awareness about peoples' mental health since we are not all together. Positive Comment: I would like to highlight the Freshman Representatives. We have gotten to know each other very well even though we haven't been all together face to face. The Seniors are doing a great job of taking charge and coming up with ideas. My Impact: I feel like I have adapted to distance learning very well. When I am in breakout rooms with people I don't know, I will be the one to talk first so it kind of breaks the ice. By doing that, I put myself out there and try to connect with my peers. Sometimes I am the one Keeping the conversation going.
ASB Reports October & November 2020
Name: Madeline Stewart Position: Freshman Representative Date: 12.01.20 Position Assessment: In October and November, we have completed Fall Fest (which includes door decorating, truck decorating, fall dress up days, and a halloween drive through), Dude Be Nice, the gratitude video, military cards, praises, and a leadership drive through. Right now, we are working on our speeches and doing a photoshoot. Professional Development: I have developed professional skills through the book study and our gratitude video. The book study makes you think about the topics in the book and has you apply them to your life. The gratitude video made me realize how important it is to show gratitude towards others. It was scary to have to call the person that I wrote to, but in the end it made me feel happy. These lessons and activities have helped me prepare for life after high school by making me think of what kind of person I want to be. Concerns/Change: I don’t have any concerns at this time. I am just happy to be back at school! Positive Comment: Jenna Skavdahl is very organized and is very descriptive when writing ASB reports. Everyone had done a pretty good job adjusting to in person school. My Impact: I have been trying to be positive as people adjust to being at school. I want this adjustment to be as easy for my peers as possible. I have tried to help them as much as I can while still adhering to the guidelines.
ASB Reports February & March 2021
Madeline Stewart Freshman Representative 17 March 2021 Position Assessment: We have written clovers, done the FFA hearts to a veteran, gave our speeches, learned about resumes, and made our own. Right now we are working on Homecoming. Our theme for the freshman class is A Day at the Movies. We are working on the dance and poster. On Wednesday, we hung up clovers outside of Senor Giedd’s room. Professional Development: We learned how to write a resume. We learned that we should keep track of our high school activities so we have a record of them for after high school. Learning how to write a resume will help me after high school when I go to apply for a job or when I start to apply for colleges. We also colored an ABC packet, and that kind of forced me to stop what I was doing and just color and be in the present moment. Being in the present moment will help me all the time, not just after high school. Concerns/Change: I don’t really have any concerns at this time! I am very excited for homecoming! Positive Comment: I am glad that Nikki is back! She is such a fun and positive person to have around. My Impact: I wrote some of the messages of the clovers. I wasn’t able to help hang them up, but it was cool to see peoples’ reactions to them throughout the day!
